Velocity Gain

A measurable fastball gain tied to work done inside the system.

"My son loves working with Coach Calhoun. The ability he has to meet my son where he was performing and then make a plan with measurable steps of growth — in combination with his know-how, technology use, flexibility of teaching strategies, genuine listening skills, and his love of the sport — make him a great private instructor."

Class 1
Pitch Design

Sequencing & Mix Creation

Pitch Design Concepts

How to build a pitch mix that works in sequence, not just individually. Athletes learn to think like pitchers instead of just throwing harder.

  • Sequence pitches to create deception and tunnel effectively

  • Build a mix around your actual stuff, not a template

  • Make smarter count-based decisions

  • Read hitters and adjust mid-outing

Ask Before You Book

Program vs. Class Guidance

If you're deciding between a class, Foundations, or a full program, the fastest move is to talk to a coach first and get pointed in the right direction.

  • Get a recommendation based on age and experience

  • Avoid starting in the wrong offer

  • Use classes as a smart entry point when needed

Beyond the Pitch

Responsibilities

The game doesn't stop when the pitch crosses the plate. This class covers everything a pitcher is responsible for that doesn't show up in a velocity reading.

  • Pickoff mechanics and holding runners effectively

  • Backup responsibilities on throws and wild pitches

  • Fielding your position — PFPs and game situations

  • Communicating with your catcher and infield

FAQ

Questions Parents Ask Before They Call

What age does TAP Athletes work with?

We work with pitchers ages 8 and up. Foundations is designed specifically for younger and newer athletes. The Academy and Train Unprompted™ programs are best suited for athletes who already have some pitching experience.

Do you offer private instruction outside of programs?

Yes. We offer individual instruction, group sessions, live at-bats, and Rapsodo scripted bullpens outside of our structured programs. Classes are also available as standalone bookings with no long-term commitment required.

What makes TAP Athletes different from a private pitching coach?

A defined curriculum, measurable outcomes, and a structured environment where athletes train alongside other pitchers. Every session has a purpose and every program has a real finish line — not just ongoing lessons with no clear destination.
